Can someone please explain to me how this is a good idea? I cannot fathom how someone got the balls to bring this resolution up for a vote let alone the fact that the damn school board voted unanimously to allow teachers to carry GUNS TO SCHOOL!
Wow is pretty much all I can say. Because we all know that no teacher would ever screw up and leave their gun unattended or hell even if they're carrying it on them at all times aren't they just giving some pissed off kid easy access to a gun? How hard would it be for some high school kid to overpower an adult? Not that hard.
The fact that the parents didn't object to this amazes me.
I'm pretty much speechless.

If they are trained on the use of guns, I support it. An armed teacher could have stopped every one of these school shootings.
My problem is that even with the best training people still screw up, let their guard down or get pounced on while their back is turned. Kids still get guns from the homes of their parents or family who know better. Parents know to keep guns out of the reach of their kids but even with precautions, kids still get them.
I just worry this will give some kids easier access to guns than they would normally have. You get a pissed off kid, he tackles the teacher and gets the gun away from them. What has been accomplished by that teacher having a gun? Nothing except giving that kid more access to guns than he/she had before.
And can you really imagine a teacher having a shoot out with a kid? When I try to picture that all I can see is the Jonesboro school shooting with teachers on one side of the school yard and the two shooters on the other. There would still be children and unarmed adults in the crossfire.
Hell, I don't know. We own guns but I'd prefer to be like England where NO ONE has guns.
Will I be kicked out of the South for saying such a thing? :)
